TechkNOWLogic is proud to host Prof. Girish Chowdhary from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, to our workshop. Prof. Chowdhary gave an inspiring lecture on the need to reduce soil contamination from excessive use of fertilizers, and how small robots can be part of the solution. Prof. Chowdhary is one of the founders of EarthSense, a company that designs robots to plant cover crops, assess crop health, and assist in phenotyping. Planting cover crops is a natural way to reduce reliance on fertilizers for restoring the balance of nutrients in the soil. Interestingly, their robots are not much bigger robots we make for the FTC competition. We had an interesting discussion on the types of chassis, and collision avoidance, which we are incorporating in our tele-op and autonomous code.

N. P. Kulkarni, PhD, CEO of Quantum Innotek, conducted a workshop on PID control, open and closed loop control systems, and the use of sensors to govern robot action, avoid collisions, and optimize speed. Later the students continued their brainstorming the robot design and building the field.
Outreach at Troy Daze Festival

Troy Daze is a yearly outreach event for our team. It is a great opportunity to socialize with our fellow Troy citizens, schoolmates, and visitors. And of course, a chance to exhibit our robot as well! This year, Argonauts had set up a tent at Troy Daze, and many FTC teams, including, TechKNOWLogic exhibited our robot. We also got donations to support our robot program. Looking forward to being a part of Troy Daze in the years to come!
